jane eyre themes…?
i am doing a project for jane eyre and we have to take an object from the story and use it to explain one of the themes. i am doing the pearl necklace that rochester gives jane becuase a pearl starts out as a grain of sand only to morph into a wonderful ‘gem,’ after being stuck in the oyster(jane having to go through with living with mrs. reed and at lolwood). also, a pearl is so simple, just a sphere really, yet so complex just like jane: not terribly attractive, but so amusing.
also the tree, which represents rochester and janes love, and is torn apart by the lightening(bertha), but still stands, though torn apart.
do you agree with this, please comment
ps i am doing the theme for the pearl part: ‘with a rough beggining it makes one stronger in the end’

I like the theme with the pearl. It is symbolic yet uncomplicated. I hope that you get a good grade. Remember that not all of Jane’s time at Lowood is bad. Just thought that I would point that out. Good luck with your paper.
