Accelis: Does it Stimulate Weight Loss?

Overview
The name Accelis insinuates accelerated. The patent-pending ingredient, corosolic acid, will supposedly help to control blood sugar levels “incredibly fast”. Informing the consumer about glucose is where the advertising spends most of its print. We learn from the manufacturers that glucose is a simple sugar that provides energy to the cells throughout the body. Glucose is in the foods we consume so the body is constantly working to keep the glucose at healthy levels. When there is too much glucose in the bloodstream, weight gain is probable. The theory behind Accelis is; support normal glucose levels and you will promote weight loss by stimulating the transport of glucose into the muscle cells where it can be used for energy instead of fat cells. The advertising mentions, but does not cite a recent study that proved the success of Accelis for weight loss.

Ingredients in Focus
The key ingredient in Accelis is said to be corosolic acid. The manufacturer states it is derived from a plant species from the Philippines in the South Pacific called Lagerstroemia speciosa that has been used for generations to control blood sugar levels. This is the ingredient that the advertising claims will promote weight loss.
The three teas used in the formula are caffeine free so they are basically harmless but will still deliver some of the antioxidants that are believed to be contained in tea.

• The advertising for Accelis includes truthful information on how glucose levels in the bloodstream are affected by the foods we consume.
Negatives
• The weight loss claims for Accelis are debatable
• The formula does not contain a proven appetite suppressant or fat burner
Final Thoughts
The claims made for Accelis about using a supplement to control glucose levels are debated in nutrition science and the jury is still out on the conclusions. We do support the fact that what we eat affects the health of the body but we would recommend changing the diet before using a supplement to be a stopgap. As far as weight loss goes, there are better formulas available that contain clinically supported ingredients such as Hoodia Gordonii, the patented form of bitter orange, Advantra-Z®, and other herbals that improve energy and mood.
