Titanium Left
is titanium piercings better than steel??
i had a monroe piercing once but i had to take it out because it was irritating my skin [it was made of steel.] i want to get a piercing under my lip on the left, just a little stud, but im having trouble finding a white gold one [i know this wont irritate my skin.] would titanium irritate my skin like the steel did? or is titanium better?
Titanium is better, because it has a much lower nickel content. Hardly anyone is allergic to high grade titanium.
But if you tell the piercer, they might suggest PTFE/bioplast instead.
And they only way the persons above flaked off, was if it was PVD, which isn’t really suitable. Andised ones can also be a problem. So just stick to silver coloured.
Titanium is an elemental metal, whereas steel is an alloy, and they mix is with nickel, which is the bit most people are allergic to. Surgical steel is fine for most people, but extra sensitive people sometimes still have problems. Ti still has a teeny bit of nickel so it can be worked with and last, but its not usually enough to cause problems, even with hightly sensitive people.
